The Future of Nintendo Gamer Thoughts

So Nintendo Gamer Thoughts has been live for two months. Originally I posted at my other blog The Four Parks so I have been blogging constantly for at least 6 months. In December I got 1,311 views and so far this January I have received 2,043 views. I'm not sure if these numbers are really good enough to continue blogging but I don't plan on stopping at the moment. Right now in the pipeline I have 5 reviews written and ready to be posted. I wanted to find out what the readers think. Should I continue blogging and if so what could be done to improve the site? Two more things: 1.did any of you notice I changed the Mii on the banner? 2. With Resident Evil, Metal Gear, and Mario and Sonic coming to the 3DS this February which would you like to see added to the banner for their release? Thanks for reading!

  1. I think you should feature Resident Evil, but that's just me :).

If blogging about games is something that you enjoy then I would continue to do so! It will help you build a portfolio and gain valuable experience if you want to continue doing this for a long time.

  2. I'm interested in a career in game journalisim. Right now it is hard to see what I need to do since I'm just a freshman in high school.

  3. Yes to all of the above.

When I started Nintendo Nation back in March of '11 (originally we were known as Project Reality) the traffic I got was absolutely tiny. Now, i'm getting quite a few thousand a month, and even though it's not as much as I like, we've grown a community of frequent commenters and interacters (yes, I'm making up words here).

Remember, people love quality. Don't bombard people with fourteen million reviews at once. Space them out over a couple of weeks.

If you need any help, just ask! I've been doing this since 2010!

  4. If that's what you want to do as a career then I would definitely suggest that you continue blogging. By the time you get out of high school and finish college (assuming you plan to attend college) you will already have a ton of experience writing for people.

As I have learned, you will tinker with your writing style and continue to transform it over the years. You will also have a head start on networking which seems to be extremely important to becoming a well connected and respected journalist as well as just about any career in existence.

    Have fun with it

  5. Thanks for all the help. @The Strikester When it comes to content I try to make it a balance of me featuring videos and news and original content like reviews so I don't wear myself out @Parko Thank you for the advice, I am still trying to work on how on write and you are right about this being good practice.
