Today is Kirby's birthday. The big pink blob of fluff is 20 years old. Next year he'll be able to have alcohol but this year he will just have to settle with this blog post and my weird picture I made at the top of said post.

Why The Walking Dead Should Come to Wii U

If that zombie was the Wii U I would let it in.

I am a huge fan of The Walking Dead. I have seen every episode of the show and am currently going through the graphic novels. What The Walking Dead does that I enjoy so much is create a believable world with believable characters. The Walking Dead game from Telltale Games strives to do the same thing and deserves to be on the Wii U and I have 2 reasons why after the break:

Top 5 DSi Ware Games

DSiWare was Nintendo's first foray into the world of downloadable games for handheld systems; and since the launch of the eShop it has been offering its greatest games to 3DS owners. Here are my Top 5 DSiWare Games after the break:

Nintendo Clone Plagues Android Marketplace Update

This is how this "all new Mario Kart game" plays.

Update: Nintendo must have super lawyers or something because the game has been taken down. If you visit the former web address for it,which is at the bottom of this post, you will find that it no longer exists. I'm sure Tom Nook had a fun time beating up the developers or whatever Nintendo did. Don't mess with the bull, cause you'll get the horns.

You may be aware of the fact that Nintendo does not make games for Android and iOS devices. The publisher Nintendo Retro does. Posing as Nintendo they have released Mario Kart 64 under the name Mario Kart Racing on the Android Marketplace for free. The link to their website actually links to the official Nintendo site. This has confused many consumers who think it is the real deal. This kind of thing is a big problem for Nintendo.

This is what happens: unknowing consumers download the game thinking it is made by Nintendo. When the game does not work or does not play well the consumer leaves with a bad taste in his or her mouth towards Nintendo. These consumers will then be sure in the future not to buy Nintendo products. Personally I am sick of this crap. No quality control on these services yet Nintendo is the one who is supposedly doing downloads wrong. Besides a couple of ripoff DSiWare games Nintendo has nothing to that degree of awfulness. You can take a look at this game here.

Funniest Nintendo Gamer Thoughts Spam Vol. 4

Same picture as last time I did this.
This week on this not weekly post comes from my rent post rant about used games:
"The advantages of game is very interesting that we lent the game and wear it as a hat."
This comment kind of reminds me of this scene in Airplane or Airplane II: The Sequel where that bald guy explains what to do with a newspaper

Mii: Simple and Effective

Would U join Mii so Wii can have a discussion about Mii characters? I love the Mii avatars. They are easy to make and simple. Though the simplicity has not hurt the level of creativity players have used with them. What put the Wii on the map was the Wii series of games like Wii Sports which starred Mii avatars. With the Wii U having Mii support is seems like this trend will continue. During GDC 2007 the history of the Mii was unveiled going all the way back to the NES/Famicom era:

Nintendo may not have invented the avatar but they perfected it. Microsoft agreed when they annouced their Xbox LIVE avatars. What do you think about Mii avatars? Leave a comment and let me know.

Why Blocking Use of Used Games is Bad

With recent rumors of the Xbox 720 and the PlayStation Orbis not allowing users to play used games I started becoming concerned. Will Nintendo do this. Nintendo has never been a company to follow trends since they are the ones usually setting them. So maybe this won't ever happen on a Nintendo system but here are some reasons why this practice is wrong

When you buy a game you own it. You can lend it to a friend, you can wear it as a hat. It does not matter what you do with it as long as it is legal. If used games are blocked then a friend you would have lent the game to can never experience a that game and will then obliterate any chance of said friend buying another game in that series.

In the future many publishers' goal is to make owning a video game into owning a license to play a video game. So you can't trade in the game to your Local GameStop or sell the game online since the license is yours and yours alone.

Lastly it sucks for the consumer. Some may argue that GameStop makes too much money off of used games and that the publishers/developers should earn money. But it the end the consumer is being punished because of one large industry argument. If consumers who only buy used games will sure as hell not buy a system that does not let him or her play them.

What do you think about all the rumors circulating around used game? Leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Tanooki Puffle

Tanooki puffle?
Regular puffle.
Club Penguin is a browser-based MMO aimed at kids 7-14. What does this have to do with Nintendo? Well there have been 2 Club Penguin DS games and 1 Club Penguin Wii games. Also somthing that does not make you vomit came out of the Disney Channel:. a tanooki puffle. Quite similar to Tanooki Mario in Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario 3D Land. Apparently it is just a concept drawing. In case you don't know puffles are awesome, they are small fuzzy and come in multiple colors: white, blue, green, red, brown, orange, purple, pink, yellow, and black. Puffles personalities depend on their colors like; one example is yellow puffles who are artistic. The artist drawing tanooki puffle must be a Nintendo fan!

Nothing huge this week except some interesting tidbits from Miyamoto:
  • Nintendo buys the domain to supermario4.com link
  • Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario, wants to do a Zelda game based on A Link to the Past, he also thinks Angry Birds is great, but would work better on the DS, and lastly he thinks F-Zero would work well on the Wii U link
  • Capcom says no "at this time" on a Wii U release of Resident Evil 6 link
  • Capcom, Sega, and Namco announced their new cross-over RPG link
  • Nintendo's downloads this week on the eShop are Ketzal's Corridors (Download Software) and Anne's Doll Studio: Tokyo Collection (DSiWare also available on the DSi Shop), nothing is released for the Wii link

My First Game: Arthur's Absolutely Fun Day

Why am I writing about Arthur's Absolutely Fun Day for the Game Boy Color? It was the first video game I ever played. I was very little and I got this game for Hanukkah (I'm only half-Jewish on my dad's side) along with a Lime Green Game Boy Color. The game consisted of performing mostly mini-games menial tasks in order to get stars or stickers or something who the hell cares. With enough stars you got to go to an amusement park. Where you play more boring games. I loved this game when I was 4 years old but now I see how awful a game is. What was the first game you ever played? How does that game hold up today? Leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Play This Game: Rhythm Heaven

Recently Rhythm Heaven Fever was released on the Wii. Sadly I have not purchased it yet but I did pick up a copy of Rhythm Heaven for the DS. You need to play this game. Rhythm Heaven is a music/rhythm game were your goal is to do different things by keeping the rhythm. In one mini-game you flick the touch screen to hit a ping pong ball, but the only way to hit it is by listening to the music and staying with the beat. There are also other musical ques to tell you when a fast ping pong ball is coming. The blend of music and gameplay works well and is a must own for any DS/3DS owner.

Top 5 Nintendo Franchises That Need Movies

Video game movies in the past have not been good, or decent, or even watchable. Nintendo has a couple with one being most notably the Super Mario Bros. movie. Though that was not a winner, I think there are many Nintendo properties that would make good ones. You can find out more after the break:
