Rayman Legends has been delayed from its February release date on the Wii U in order to bring it to other gaming systems. This has made me and many other Nintendo gamers quite displeased. It is a slap in the face to Nintendo fans who supported this game and a slap in the face to Wii U buyers as consumers.
The fact that it is coming to other systems is not the problem, the problem is that the game would have been released within a matter of weeks on the Wii U, but instead Nintendo fans will now have to wait until the end of summer. While speculation may lead people to wave their angry fingers at Microsoft because of an exclusivity contract, the only company to be mad at is Ubisoft.
Nintendo fans have taken crap from Ubisoft before. Sometimes it is in the form of vomit-inducing shovelware, some times it is in the form of vomit-inducing 3DS launch games. No matter how Ubisoft makes Nintendo fans throw up, we have put up with this for too long.
Even through all this crap Nintendo fans were still willing to wait for Rayman Legends, even through Ubisoft Wii U BS like ESPN Sports Connection. This truly is insulting to Nintendo gamers.
Some may argue that the only reason people are upset about this is due to their false sense of entitlement, I would have to disagree. A false sense of entitlement would mean that Nintendo fans felt entitled to something. Expecting a game to be released the day it was announced, a few weeks before that date is not a sense of entitlement, it is a sense of that game was delayed just to make other gamers happy.
In a rush to keep those upset by this announcement they posted this on their Facebook page: Thanks for all your feedback regarding Rayman Legends in all of its forms. We have heard you and we will continue to listen. We understand your frustration and that you want to get your hands on the game. We are working with the development team to provide you with a new, exclusive demo for the Wii U soon. Stay tuned for more.

Now that I'm done ranting and raving what do you think about this announcement? Leave a comment and tell me what you think.

How is that a slap?
ReplyDeleteUbisoft is one of Nintendo's biggest third party supporter for the Wii and Wii U for years and now you people crucify them for just one kiddie game?
The way I see it, you haters are the bigger jerks than what you make Ubisoft to be.
Yeah that's right keep hating.... wii might see no Watch Dogs for U.
It's called holding them accountable @bonezai. Ubisoft as a company had a responsibility not to just there own personal game, but to early adopters to the Wii U platform. If you played on a Wii U kiosk you will see that Legends was the only playable demo.
ReplyDeleteUbisoft created their own bold statement with that move "if you want to play beautiful intuative games like this buy this console. If they wanted to make it multiplatform by all means do it, but to wait less than three weeks before to tell the lot of us who belived in this project so much we went out, and became early adopters of a console that we have to wait 7 months to get the game now? Is nothing short than a virtual spat in the face.
This is why I have elected to buy no new Ubisoft games this 2013. Any game I purchase will be used and not go back to their company. I leave any person who does not think this is a undervalument to coustmers with this, "look at it more for the lack of principle not just that its some other game"
Third-party supporter turned seven-month delayer, you mean.
ReplyDelete#Troll.
LOL!
ReplyDeleteA man child is running this site.
No wonder Nintendo will forever be relegated down as a kiddie toy brand.
Grow up.
To you Nintendo fanchildren Ubisoft is just a freak. You people need Ubi right now. When you don't, you'll cast them out like a leper: when Ninty made exclusive games come out nothing else matters.
Your fanboyism is a bad joke.
I never said that we don't need Ubisoft support, but it is a slap in the face that they've taken a more money-based route.
